HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 97-25 06/02/1997 . . . RESOLUTION NO. 97-25 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SPRINGFIELD COMMON COUNCIL AUTHORIZING THE INSTALLATION OF RAISED CROSSWALKS ON WALNUT ROAD. ASPEN TO POLTAVA (PROJECT NO. 1-958). WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the design options for the Walnut Road Project, Aspen to Poltava Street, Project No. 1-958 and heard testimony regarding the project during the public hearing for adoption of the Engineer's Report for the project on April 7, 1997; and, WHEREAS, the City of Springfield recognizes the park-like character of the open space within the project boundaries, and that Walnut Road is an access to and borders that park-like area; and, WHEREAS, the City of Springfield wants to provide for safe pedestrian movements on Walnut Road related to access to and from the park-like area on the south border of the project; and, WHEREAS, raised crosswalks will enhance the visibility to motorists of the crosswalks and pedestrians, and will enhance the importance of the crosswalks to pedestrians, and may increase the likelihood of pedestrians using the crosswalks; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Springfield that the City Manager or his delegate is authorized to install raised crosswalks as a geometric design feature on Walnut Road, Aspen to Poltava (Project No. 1-958).
