with rocks or clean it up, he said.
"We contacted the DEQ the minute we heard
about the. situation. and ~e're still waiting for a
heads. up from them," Rosie Pryor, communications
director for Spri)1gfield, said Tuesday.. "Once they
come over and do a field investigation, they'll let us
know what the situation is and what, if any, respon-
sibility the city of Springfield has."
. Site assessment won't happen until DEQ staff get a
break from other projects, probably \vithin the next
four weeks, Keith Andersen, DEQ Western Regioil
cleanup program manager, said Tuesday.
