Molly,
Thank you for the info. Yes, I think perhaps a meeting would be a good idea. I
could make it this Friday or Monday if that would fit into your schedule.
I would like for you to 'understand why there is so much grave though.
It serves two purposes. First of all, we need an oversized driveway because of a
large family ~hat gets together at Dad's house and there is no on street parking.
We allow our neighbors to utilize our drive for the same purpose. Terry Schiele's
brother live just to the north of me and they use it frequently.
The other reason is that when Springfield City gaVe permission for the area
behind us to be developed and bring in fill dirt, they destroyed the natural drain
which went to the North. We had to trench and install a pipe and drain field
along both the North and south sides of our property. All the houses along here
had to do the same thing.
When Greg. F. was out here regarding the sewer locate he remembered that
they had to put a drain line in the field which did not take care of all the
problem. So if I remove the gravel and put plants there I will have water back up
on both sides ofthese parcels. We have been able to keep the surface water
down only because of the trench on the South side and the pipe and gravel on
the North side. .
This is documented in the City files somewhere and so I hope you will reverse
the determination regarding the landscaping along with the fact that the entire
street has an open drain ditch.
