Dear Mr. Teague:
We are in the process of making final arrangements to construct
a log scaling ramp on approximately 3 acres of land directly
. west of our shop at 4100 Commercial Ave.
There will be 2 or 3 log scalers on d.uty during daylight hours
and no one at night.
This location is quite a d.istance from the sewer and. we would.
like to obtain approval to put in a hold.ing or septic tanko
The facilities will not be used to much but we feel this location
is to far to be feasible to cormect with the sewer.
I am hoping you will bring this situation before the council
at the meeting on Monday February 22.
If any other information is needed. please contact me at any time.

SUBJECT: Alvin Reed Request for Septic or Holding Tank Approval
The Reed property located on Connnercia1 Street is zoned M-2 Light Industrial,
and at present, approximately the east two-thirds is used by Reed Fuel Co.
as a truck terminal and shop; the buildings are served by a septic tank system.
On the remainder of the property, the vacant portion, Mr. Reed intended to
install a log scaling station large enough to serve four trucks; included with
the station will be a small office with sanitary facilities for the log scalers
and truck drivers.
The County Sanitarian's office indicates that the property is unsuitable for
septic tanks and they indicate that a connection to the city sewer system is
necessary.
Sewer is available, and while it would require the construction of 250 to 300
feet of sewer line, there are no real serious problems to be overcome.
Eventually sewer will have to be built to serve this area. It seems the time
is now. Delaying the construction by use of a holding tank will only increase'
the cost and at best be a stop gap measure.
