Dear Ms Patterson
As a result of a recent mspectlon, the City of Spnngfield Community Semces DIVlSIOn,
Brnldmg Safety, has deterrmned that the structure located at the above referenced
locatlon, also known as Lane County Assessors Map #17023434 Tax Lot #011003, for
reasons below, a substandard and unsafe bUlldmg as descnbed m the Spnngfield BUlldmg
Safety Code Anmm'stratlve Code Lane County Assessment and Taxatlon records reveal
that you are the owner of tlus property
Sectlon 203 of the Spnngfield Brnldmg Safety Code Adrmmstratlve Code classifies
structures, wh1ch are structurally madequate or dangerous to human lIfe as unsafe
SectIOn 1001 of the Housmg Code specIfies condttlOns constttutIng a substandard
brnlding The folloWIng condltlons mclude but are not lInnted to condttlons eXistIng at
the structure Iden11fied above, classIfymg It as a substandard and unsafe brnldmg
1 The property IS not currently served With electrIc semce Where there IS electrIc
power avw.lable WIthm 300 feet of the brnldmg, such bUlldmg shall be connected
to electrIcal power supply
2 Each dwellmg shall be prOVided With a water closet, lavatory, and a bathtub or
shower Although these fixtures may be mstalled m the dwellmg, the lack of
water serVIce produces madequate and unsamtary plumbmg sewage facilitIes
3 The Spnngfield Housmg Code reqUITes that every dwellmg shall be prOVided With
electrIcal lIghtIng Due to the electrIcal serVIce bemg dtsconnected at tlus
10catlon, electrIcal lIghtIng IS not avw.lable at tlus tune
Section 204 (b) of the adrmmstratlve Code proVides procedures where the Brnldmg
OffiCial may reqUITe vacatlon of the prennses when Cited defiCIenCies represent an

unmemate hazard to life, lrmb, property or safety of the public or Its occupants NotIce IS
hereby served that the property WIll be posted to be vacated by 9 00 am Fnday, July 25,
2008 due to the potentIal hazards to the occupants resultIng from the above-cIted
condItIOns If you and/or your tenant do not vacate the prermse Wltlun the tmJe frame
specIfied, the CIty may seek compliance WIth the Bmldmg Safety Codes through legal
recourse, winch may mclude Mumclpal Court proceedmgs
Once the property has been vacated, occupancy shall not take place unnl the above
mentIOned unsafe and substandard conmtlOns are corrected and approved by tins office
Any person havmg any record, tItle or legal mterest m the bOOdmg may appeal from tins
NotIce and Order to the Bmldmg Board of Appeals, prOVIded that he appeal IS made m
wntIng and filed WIth the BOOdmg OffiCIal Wltlun two (2) days from the date of servIce
of tins NotIce and Order FaIlure to appeal WIll constItute a WaIver of all nght to an
admrmstratIve heanng and determmatlOn of tins matter
