HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 04-43 11/15/2004 . . . RESOLUTION NO. 04-~ A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE EUGENE-SPRINGFIELD METRO AREA MULTI-HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN. WHEREAS, subject to the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 (Public Law 106-390), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) requires all U.S. communities to produce multi- hazard mitigation plans for all naturally occurring hazards that may take place in their area as a condition for communities to remain eligible for future FEMA mitigation grant funds. WHEREAS, the Cities of Eugene and Springfield have jointly prepared the Eugene-Springfield Metro Area Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan in order to meet FEMA's funding requirement, as incorporated herein by reference. WHEREAS, the Springfield Common Council has reviewed and considered the Eugene- Springfield Metro Area Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan. WHEREAS, the mitigation strategies and action items will be implemented after a process of prioritization, using benefit cost analysis, and only when funding sources have been identified. NOW, THEREFORE, THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SPRINGFIELD RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: Based on the above findings, which are hereby adopted, the Eugene-Springfield Metro Area Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan as incorporated herein by reference is approved as the official Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan for the City of Springfield. Section 2: Approval of the Eugene-Springfield Metro Area Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan does not identify or provide a funding source for the implementation of any action item in the plan. Plan implementation shall be determined by and is subject to the City of Springfield budget review process and/or budget priorities of the Springfield Common Council. Section 3: This Resolution shall take effect upon adoption by the Common Council and approval of the Mayor.
