RE: Trip Generation Estimate- Raising Cane’s at the Shoppes at Gateway
The following provides a trip generation estimate for the proposed drive-thru restaurant, Raising
Cane’s, located within the Shoppes at Gateway in Springfield, Oregon.
Development Proposal
The applicant is proposing to demolish the existing 13,200 sf Big 5 Sporting Goods building located at
2720 Gateway Street at the southwest corner of Harlow Road and Beverly Street intersection. The
applicant will be constructing a 2,862 sf fast food restaurant with 2 drive-through lanes in its place.
Trip Generation
Raising Cane’s has operational hours after the AM peak hour (7:00-9:00 AM). Therefore, there will be
no trip generation during the AM peak hour. The weekday AM peak hour, weekday PM peak hour,
and weekday daily trips are estimated using the ITE Trip Generation Manual 11
th edition. The land use
codes used are described in the following:
x 861- Sporting Goods Superstore-This ITE Land use is used for the existing Big 5
Sporting Goods store. The independent variable is the building square footage.
x 934- Fast Food Restaurant with Drive-Through-This land use is used for the new fast-
food restaurant. The independent variable is the building square footage.
Tables 1 and 2 illustrate the PM peak hour and Daily trip generation estimate.

TIA Applicability
As per SDC 4.2.105(1) and (2), a Traffic Impact Analysis is required if the proposed development
generates 100 or more new vehicle trips during the PM peak hour or 1,000 more weekday daily trips.
As demonstrated in Tables 1 and 2 above, the proposed fast-food restaurant will not increase the site
trips by more than 100 PM or 1,000 daily.
