Project: Rosboro Plant Improvements
Subject: Tree Felling Permit – Scope of Work Description

Rosboro is planning on improvements to their plant at 28th and Main. The improvements include two
new buildings, the Planer Mill and the Glulam Building. The Planer Mill is located at the portion of the
original Rosboro mill site and will be constructed in an area of a recently demolished building. The
Glulam Building will be constructed on an area of the Rosboro mill site that was formerly Dow Corning
site. This area was inactive for many years and volunteer trees grew in unpaved area.
The site survey prepared November 2023 identified 25 existing trees in this area of the site with a
breast-height diameter of 5 inches or more. During the winter storms in early 2024, most of the trees
were damaged and removed. The remaining trees are either in direct conflict with site improvement
areas, or as the case of the trees in the SW corner of the site, impacted by site construction activities.
All trees are scheduled to be removed. The total disturbance area is 11,250 sf.
This is an active manufacturing site and nearly all the site area without buildings is either traffic lanes or
temporary storage for finished products, therefore trees within the site area is problematic for
operations and harmful to the tree’s root system.
An area south of the new fire lane Glulam Building and the perimeter fence should be safe for trees,
therefore Rosboro intends to plant trees every 45 feet along this edge. The species to be determined
by our landscape contractor, Rexius and from the City of Springfield Adopted Street Tree List (2012.
