When the tenant moved out, I noticed that the front door when closed forcefully would seems to shake the entire front wall. As I looked closer, I realized that the structure used to have a large opening approximately the size of a single car garage door. There was reinforcing columns on either side that appeared to have held hinges for large swinging open doors and the foundation was cut out in between them. It appears that at some point the garage door was filled in with a man door and vinyl window. The base of the filled in wall had dry rotted away and left the infilled wall just connected at the sides and top. I would like to put in (and have started to) doors closer to the original style, commonly known as French doors, and eliminate the window. I'd like to repair the portion of the infilled wall by reconnecting it to the concrete foundation. Re -side it with the double cedar shake and trim the door with 6" raised edge trim to match the existing finishes. Thank you for your consideration. Stephen Houston 4/5/24, 2:44 PN?
