HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 01 CDAC Interviews AGENDA ITEM SUMMARY Meeting Date: 11/20/2023 Meeting Type: Work Session Staff Contact/Dept.: Erin Fifield / DPW Staff Phone No: 541-726-2302 Estimated Time: 20 Minutes S P R I N G F I E L D C I T Y C O U N C I L Council Goals: Encourage Economic Development and Revitalization through Community Partnerships ITEM TITLE: COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE INTERVIEWS ACTION REQUESTED: Interview two applicants for the Community Development Advisory Committee (CDAC) for one open position and decide on appointment. ISSUE STATEMENT: The Community Development Advisory Committee will have 3 vacant positions on January 1, 2024 due to the expiring terms of: • Sami Allen (finishing her first 4 year term) • Rebecca Cashero (finishing the expiration of another member’s term), and • Isabelle Mathews (finishing her second 4 year term). Sami and Rebecca have reapplied to serve on the CDAC, and the Mayor has provided direction to re-appoint both of them for full terms without interviews per the Council Operating Policies and Procedures. Three additional applications were received for the remaining one vacant position: • John Aaron is applying for their first 4 year term on the CDAC • Sheri Moore is applying for their first 4 year term on the CDAC • Elena Coleman also applied to serve on the CDAC as well as the Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee, listing the BPAC as her first choice. She was interviewed by City Council on November 13, 2023; Council gave direction to appoint her to the BPAC. ATTACHMENTS: 1. Community Development Advisory Committee Questions 2. Moore, Sheri Application DISCUSSION/ FINANCIAL IMPACT: The existence and work of the Community Development Advisory Committee (CDAC) are important expressions of the desire for citizen participation in the City’s housing and community development activities. The CDAC provides recommendations to the City Council on short and long term housing and community development needs, objectives, priorities and planning documents as required by federal U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) program regulations. The CDAC also provides recommendations to the City Council on the best use of the City’s allotment of federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program funds. These funds support housing programs, social services, affordable rental and home ownership housing development, neighborhood revitalization activities, parks and street construction and downtown redevelopment.
