CITY COUNCIL
ITEM TITLE: INTERIM WARD 4 COUNCILOR - OATH OF OFFICE
ACTION The City Attorney will administer the Oath of Office for the Interim Ward 4
REQUESTED: Councilor, Bethany Blackwell.
ISSUE Section 27 of the Springfield City Charter requires elected officials to take an oath
STATEMENT: of office before assuming their office.

DISCUSSION/
During the April 17, 2023, regular session, Bethany Blackwell received the
FINANCIAL
majority of the votes for the position of Interim Ward 4 Councilor. The Interim
IMPACT:
Ward 4 Councilor will serve until January 2025 and the election for the successor
will be held at the May 2024 primary with a potential November 2024 run-off
election.
The Oath of Office will be administered during tonight's Special Regular Meeting
prior to the work session.
