Re: Hazardous Electrical Wiring
Dear Mr. & Mrs. Lehman,
On August 8, 1996 an electrical inspection was performed at your residence, the inspection revealed
nunlerous potential electrical hazards that represent imminent risks to the building occupant. The
following conditions include, but are not limited, to the electrical deficiencies noted as a result of that
inspection.
Improper splicing of electrical wiring. The splices of terminal end or electrical wiring must be
contained in an approved junction box, with a cover, to prevent possible electric shock or fire from
exposed electrical wiring or short circuit conditions.
The improper us of appliance cords which when used is place of permanent wiring is potentially
hazardous and can cause electrical shock or fire. Appliance cords shall not be run through floors,
walls, ceilings, doors, windows or other similar openings.
Fuses have been installed in the service panel that are rated greater than the rated electrical load
carrying capacity of the wire they protect.
Exposed electrical wiring was going into the ground under service equipment location and in wall
cavity above wash machine. These shall be protected in an approved manner to prevent electrical
shock or fire.
An electrical permit must be obtained for the above items which involve repairs or modifications to the
electrical system.
New electrical wiring shall be installed in an accordance with present electrical safety code requirements
Because there are so many hazardous conditions, repairs shall be completed by Friday, September 6, 1996
by 2 p.rn. or Springfield Utility Board will be notified to disconnect power to premises.
