SURTECT: WOOD BURNING APPLIANCE PERMIT APPLICATION NO. BP L529-42
Your permit application for a wood burning appliance has expired. Each
pernit issued by the building official, under the provisions of the
Building Code (Oregon State Mechanical Specialty Code) shall expire by
linritation and becorne null and void if the work authorized by such
perrnit is not comnenced within 18o days from the date of such permit,
or if the work authorized by such permit is suspended or abandoned at
any time after the work is commenced for a period of 180 days. No
pernit sha11 be extended more than once.[Sec. 303(d) OSMC]
Section 3O5(d) OSIIC states: rtlt sha1l be the duty of the person doing
the work authorized by a pernit to notify the building official that
such work is ready for inspection.rt
In addition, Section 3o3(c) Ostlc, says: ItThe issuance of a permit or
approval of p1ans, specifications and computations shall not be
construed to be a pernit for, or an approval of, any violation of any
of the provisions of thi.s code or of other ordinance of the
jurisdiction. i'
Recently, an agtreement was made between Lane County and the cities of
Eugene and Springfield resulting in the creati-on of an 'UrbanTransition Area' where the respective city codes apply as well as the
State of Oregon Building Code. Since the cities and Lane County utilize
the same State of oregon Mechanical Specialty Code, the section
references listed above apply in alt jurisdictions.
If your address is within a city Urban Transition Area or within the
citt limits, you must make application for any anticipated permit
activity for a wood burning appliance (or other activity) wj.th your
city'building department'.
