further agree to ensure that all required inspections are requested at the proper time, that each address is readable from the
street, that the permit card is located at the front of the property, and the approved set of plans will remain on the site at all

As you requested, a preliminary soils investigation was performed at the above location by site inspection,-
a review oisoils investigations by this office in the surrounding area and by referencing the Soil Survey of
Lane Counfy. The inveitigation is in conjunction with the repair of the foundation using driven helical
piers at the north and north west foundation of the two story apartment building.
The native soils iu the area are a silty loam or clay loam over sandy loam and bar run soils. I would expect
that tlre target bearing capacity for the I 0-inch dianreter single helix pier will be at a depth of 10 feet.
The cause of the settlenlent at the nofth foLrndation appears to be a result of the saturation of the surface
soils by the discharging of roof down spout drains at the northeast and northwest corners. The surface
soils lose strength when saturated and settlement occurs. Installation of the piers to suitable bearing has
been recomrnended and designed by this office to support this portion of the structure.
The piers will be completely laterally supporled throughout their length by the existing soils, and is an
adeqirate repair for this region. It is anticipated that there will be no induced lateral loading to the piers for
this installation.
There are no extraordinary ground water, frost depths, or corrosive soils conditions associated with this
installatiott.
