1. What experiences / training / qualifications do you have for this particular board / commission / committee?
I've always had a deep appreciation for local history. My formal education and work within higher education provides me
with a unique background that could greatly serve the committee. Additionally, I am used to committee participation and
collaboration with folks of different backgrounds and investment levels.
2. What specific contribution do you hope to make?
I hope to better advertise and share about the Museum to local residents. My background in communications and social
media management in addition to event planning provides me with a variety of skills that could be of great use in growing
visitor numbers as well as opening the space to more folks.
Briefly describe your involvement in relevant community groups and activities. (Lack of previous involvement will not
necessarily disqualify you from consideration.)
I serve on several committees via my position at UO: Veteran's Advisory Committee, First Generation Student Working
Group, Wellness Ambassador Committee. Additionally, I'm involved with the LRP Black cultural center and serve as the
advisor for several Culturally -Based student orgs.
4. What community topics concern you that relate to this board / commission / committee? Why do you want to become a member?
I believe that in order for Springfield to grow as a community and retain its charm, we must remain attached and
knowledgeable of our history. I've been to our museum several times, and it is almost always empty. I believe that our
community members are missing out on what is a tremendous resource and incredible space. I'd love to work to connect
more folks to the space and our city's history.
Most boards / commissions / committees meet monthly. Subcommittees may meet more frequently. Meetings generally last one
and one-half hours. It is highly recommended you attend a meeting before submitting the application. Please read the news
