The purpose of the inspecEion was -to determirre the suitability oI the building(s) for the prc'posed us€: as indicated. Based c,n the proposed occupancy, the tsxisting conditions which are mentioned below do not meet the minimum tsuilding Safety Code requirements. Title III of the Ameri.cans with Disabilities Act requires public accommodations such as your proposed day care facility to comply withfederal standards for the removal of physical barriers. Although thisoffice is not responsible for the enforcement of those requi-rements, the Law does provide for a substantial civil Iiability for non-compliance. Exterlor building waIls shal1 be of one-hour fire-resistive construction when located less than ten feet from adjacent property lines, and sha1l beof two-hour fire-resistive construction when Located less than five feet from adjacent property lines. Corridor walls and ceilings shall be of not less than one-hour fire-resistive construction, with protected openings, unless each classroom has at least one exit door directly to the exterior. Electrical Wiring systems in daycare facilities serving more than 20 children shal1 be installed in metal ccrnduit or metal flex conduit. The above i-tems are requirements for the existing structure only. Other items such as parking, paving, si.te i-mprovements, sidewalks, etc., have not been addressed as part of this inspection, and may be required as part of the Sj-te Review process. Please contact the Springfield Planning Division at this office regardint any necessary improvements to the site.
