As requested , an additional inspection was made to determine if an alternate to replacing the roof beam in item two can be used. Please rEfer to the attached sketch for clarification. The inspections for the warehouse are to determine the structural items that need to be replaced due to fire damage. It was not within the scope of roquested services and no attempt is made here to achieve or confirm code compliance in the remainder of the structure. Replace a20'- 0" section of the roof beam. In lieu of replacing the roof beam a fabricated steel column cap may be used for the beam bearing The column cap will transfer the bearing point away from the damaged end of the beam. The proposed 6 x 6 column should be stiffened with 2 x 6's with face nailing of l6d @ 16. o.c., stagger the nailing pattern. See attached sketch for clarification.
