IN THE AMOUNT OF $132,168.98. ISSUE STATEMENT: Five bids were received for this project to construct a vehicle and equipment washrack facility at the City's Maintenance Shop. Contract award is now necessary to enable work to proceed. ATTACHMENTS: None DISCUSSIONI FINANCIAL IMPACT: The project consists of the construction of a concrete vehicle and equipment washrack facility at the Maintenance Division Shops.. Replacement of the existing vehicle and equipment wash facility is needed to comply with Federal, State, and local sanitary and stormwater regulations. The present facility does not meet these requirements. This project is part of the ongoing modernization of the City's Maintenance Shops to meet both the 25-year facility needs and provisions of the City's adopted Stormwater Management Plan. Completion ofthe washrack supports City Council stormwater goals and enhances the efficiency of Maintenance Division activities. Springfield Utility Board (SUB) will provide and install 300 feet of waterline, valves and backflow devices. SUB has also agreed to waive fees for water usage at this time. In return for their participation SUB will have access to the facility for their own use. The following bids were received and opened on March 16,2007: Migson Contracting, Inc. . Morris P. Kielty G.C., Inc. Triton Group, Inc. Brown Contracting, Inc. Lee Construction, Inc. $132,168.98 $140,155.00 $146,850.00 $152,800.00 $161,400.00 Staff recommends award of the contract to Migson Contracting, Inc., the low bidder in the amount of $132,168.98. The bid received from Migson's Contracting Inc. is consistent with Affolter, West and Jones Architects estimate for the washrack project. Dedicated funds are available in the FY06107 adopted budget for this project. The City Attorney and Finance Department has reviewed and approved this bid process.
