ITEM TITLE: ACCEPTANCE OF CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT P21123; HAMLIN
CHANNEL RESTORATION
ACTION
REQUESTED:
Adopt or reject the following resolution:
A RESOLUTION TO ACCEPT CITY PROJECT P21123; HAMLIN CHANNEL
RESTORATION
ISSUE
STATEMENT:
The work on this project has been completed by Hyland Construction, and final
inspection, paperwork and approval has been completed by City Staff. The Project
is now ready for City Council to formally accept the work.

DISCUSSION/
FINANCIAL
IMPACT:
This project included the removal of existing storm water pipe, expansion of the
open-air conveyance, and replanting of the channel.
This project has been completed with the final cost of $266,847 which consists of
$250,162 for construction and $16,685 for project development and administration.
This project was completed in coordination with the Springfield School District as
part of the Hamlin Middle School construction. Through a mutual agreement the
City was able to get the restoration work added to the School District’s construction
contract which allowed for efficiency in project management and construction site
coordination.
All work has been completed and inspected by the City Engineer and found to be
satisfactory.

RESOLUTION NO. ___________
ACCEPTANCE
WHEREAS, work on the improvement described below has been fully completed and has been
duly inspected by the City Engineer of the City of Springfield:
P21123; HAMLIN CHANNEL RESTORATION
WHEREAS, said work was found to be in conformance with the terms of the contracts now on
file in the City Recorder’s office; and
WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the City Engineer that these improvement projects be
accepted and permanently included in the improvement maintenance program of the City of
Springfield.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SPRINGFIELD:
Section 1: The Common Council of the City of Springfield does hereby accept for
future maintenance the above-described project and accepts said improvement from the
Developer involved.
Section 2: This Resolution will take effect upon adoption by the Council and
approval by the Mayor.
ADOPTED by the Common Council of the City of Springfield this 1st day of February
2021, by a vote of _____ for and ____ against.
