ISSUE STATEMENT: Two (2) candidates applied for the cultural minority community vacancy on the Springfield Police Advisory Committee created by a previous resignation. Molina ATT5: Police Advisory Committee Current Roster DISCUSSION/ FINANCIAL IMPACT: The City received two applications for the open cultural minority community position on the Springfield Police Advisory Committee. The applications received were from: • Brittney de Alicante • Mark Molina The Springfield Police Advisory Committee is currently a ten member volunteer committee appointed by Council consisting of four neighborhood/citizen-at-large representatives, one School District 19 representative, one Willamalane Park and Recreation District representative, two representatives of the local business community, one cultural minority community representative, and one faith community representative. Council has communicated an anticipated reduction to a nine-member committee with the removal of the second local business community position. Committee membership is a four-year term. The cultural minority community position is open due to the prior representative’s resignation. The Council decision on the cultural minority community position appointment will be scheduled for a future regular meeting in conjunction with the boards, committees, and commission batch recruitment process. Interview Agenda – Springfield Police Advisory Committee Applicants requested to arrive to the meeting by 5:30pm. What do you think are the most important steps the Police Department could take to promote a positive relationship with the Springfield community? 6. Where would you like our Police Department in 5 years? 7. Is there anything else you wanted to share with us about who you are and why you think you would be a good addition to the Police Advisory Committee?
