Dear Mr. Schumacher:
As a result of a complaint, I inspected your property at 707 S. 4th Street,Springfield, 0regon on July 31, 1978 regarding a broken ser^/er l'ine. An oldconcrete sewer line was found to be broken and leaking sewage. This is invjolation of Section 1001 (a), subsection 13 of the Uniform-Housing Code as
adopted by the City of Springfield. I observed that repairs had bequn andadvised you to purchase a sewer repair permit, lvh'ich you obta'ined on August2, 1978. No inspection, however, uras requested, and a follow-up inspectionon August 29, 1978 found that no further work had been accomplished.' The
stagnant water was then approximately one foot deep and presenting a potential
heal th probiem.
Therefore' b'y Friday, september 1, 1978 by 12:00 p.m., the sewer must berepaired. An 'inspection will be conducted shortly thereafter. If you donot comply with these requirements, further action will be taken under the
codes of the City of Springfield, Qpsgen. The house may be ordered vacated
qnd posted to prevent further occupancy until the work is comp'leted or theCity may cause the work to be done and charge the cost thereoi against theproperty or its owner as specified in Section i101 (a), subsection 4 of the
Uniform Housing.Code as adopted by the City of Springfield.
