Revised 5/21/13 KL 1 of 3
THE REASON FOR THE VACATION OF THE PROPERTY LINE
1. To reach compliance with the setback requirements, the property line of the
present property severely restricts any changes, modifications, or alterations of the
existing structures, of and to the residence or additions and extensions there of.
This request is to formally allow the present property line nearest the street to be
reassigned to the area immediately behind the present sidewalk, as is, the adjacent
properties on both the east and west sides and would thus allow the additional
property as a whole to be more freely developed without the constraint of the
setback requirements.
Therefore, can the property line nearest the street be relocated?
2. Currently as the property lines exist, the aforementioned area in question is the
property of the City of Springfield and is thus the cities responsibility to
maintenance and upkeep. As the conditions presently exist, there is a retaining
wall system in disrepair on the north east corner and should be addressed. If the
aforementioned property lines would be relocated so that the area in question could
be incorporated into the property as a whole, it would be my responsibility to
address the issue in question.
IYOIYlIY1.71tb`lY[tlYYY01YlrI.ZtlrIY1.71Y1'/_YYYYI.7\%N_UY(tl01
Our proposed use of the property line vacation and relocation will involve adding
an extension on the north east wing of the house towards the street and a detached
garage on the South corner of the property. Both expansion and addition will fully
meet the setback requirements if the property line is relocated. (SEE SITE PLAN
