2. The location of the previous wood stove appeared to have clearance problems with
the chimney and connector pipe. If a wood stove is to be reinstalled, the chimney
location -and clearances for the stove should be determined by the installation
standards of the stove.
STRUCTURAL
The following portions of the structure were damaged to the degree that the structural
integrity of the members is jeopardized, and must be replaced.

1. Exterior
kitchen
walls in the utility area and the south wall of the kitchen east of the
wiLndow, including studs, plates, sheathing and as well as interior
wallboard.
2. Floor joists at the east end of the utility area, including the east 4' (approximately)
of subf loori*ng.
3. Approximately three-fourths of the ceiling joists, rafters and roof over the utility/
kitchen area, including purlins and purlin supports.
4. Two holes which were punctured in the roof for smoke venting during fire fighting
efforts. This involves plywood sheathing and roofing only.
5. East end of the wood deck adjacent to the utility area, luding the decking and
at at least the first supporting joist.
In. addition, the following conditions were noted which may not be a result of the fire,
but which must be corrected to protect the structure from outside elements.
1. Siding around windows is missing, apparently from weatherization activities.
2. Eave soffit is missing from part of the north overhang, exposing the attic area
to rodent infestation.
Permits for replacement of the structure, electrical equipment, plumbing and wood stove
installations may be obtained from this office. Obtaining the appropriate permits and
inspection approvals will insure that the replacement installations are made in an approved
and safe manner.
We will check on your progress in 30 days from the date of this letter. Meanwhile if
you have any questions regarding the required corrections, please feel free to call
