GROUNDWATER PROTECTION
DURING CONSTRUCTION
1. THE FOLLOWING REGULATIONS MUST BE OBSERVED DURING CONSTRUCTION:
• ANY CHEMICAL SPILLS OR LEAKS MUST BE CLEANED UP IMMEDIATELY AND CLEAN-UP
MATERIALS DISPOSED OFF-SITE AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH LANE COUNTY AND DEQ
REQUIREMENTS. IN EVERY CASE, CARE SHALL BETAKEN TO PREVENT GROUNDWATER
CONTAMINATION.
• CHEMICAL HANDLING, STORAGE, AND USE. CONTRATORSIDEVELOPERS SHALL BE
RESPONSIBLE FOR SAFE HANDLING AND STORAGE OF CHEMICALS, PETROLEUM
PRODUCTS, AND FERTILIZERS AND THE PREVENTION OF GROUNDWATER AND STORM
WATER RUNOFF CONTAMINATION. CHEMICALS USED DURING CONSTRUCTION,
INCLUDING PAINT AND CLEANING MATERIALSAVASTES, MUST NOT ENTER THE SOIL OR
BE WASHED INTO THE STORM WATER SYSTEM. ALL CHEMICALS SHOULD BE STORED IN
ADEQUATE SECONDARY CONTAINMENT.
• EQUIPMENTMAINTENANCE AND FUELING: PRECAUTIONS SHALL BE TAKEN TO PREVENT
FLUID-CONTAINING EQUIPMENT LOCATED OUTSIDE FROM LEAKING, INCLUDING
PROVIDING A DEDICATED AREA FOR FUELING AND MAINTENANCE OF EQUIPMENT. THIS
AREA SHALL BE PREPARED AND MAINTAINED IN A WAV THAT PREVENTS SPILLS OR
LEAKS FROM MIGRATING TO THE SOIL OR STORM WATER DRAINAGE SYSTEM.
• NO FILL MATERIALS CONTAINING HAZARDOUS MATERIALS SHALL BE USED ON THIS SITE.
2 WELLHEAD PROTECTION SIGNS SHALL BE PLACED AT THE SITE TEMPORARILY DURING
CONSTRUCTION AND PERMANENTLY AT TRASHIRECYCLING ENCLOSURE AND ADJACENT TO
THE SWALE(S). THE SIGNS ARE INTENDED TO ALERT CONTRACTORS, SUBCONTRACTORS,
EMPLOYEES, TENANTS, AND OTHERS TO THE IMPORTANCE OF REPORTING AND CLEANING
