Springfield, OR 97478 Dear Mr. Martin: This letter is concerning your construction project at 3456 Watermark Ct. You have requested specific direction regarding drainage requirements at the north side of your property. The property must be graded so that your site does not drain onto the neighboring properties to the north, east or west. A 12-inch public storm sewer line is located along your north property line in a public utility easement. The Public Works Department has granted you permission to locate an area drain or catch basin within the P.U.E. as long as you adhere to the following: 1. The area drain or catch basin must be positioned so it is not located directly over the public storm sewer line. 2. You must obtain an Encroachment Permit from the Public Works Department to core drill and tap into the 12-inch storm sewer with the outflow pipe from your basin. An application form for the permit is enclcosed for your convenience. Please contact Ron Sather, Public Works Construction lnspector, (726-2240) with questions regarding the permit or connection requirements. 3. The catch basin larea drain enclosure must be watertight and shall be adequately sized to accept the water runoff from your site with an approved child-proof grate cover. The basin may be of concrete, metal or plastic, as appropriate. lf the area of the property being drained to the basin is greater than 5000 s.f., a double compartment basin must be used. 4. The outflow pipe in the basin shall have a turned-down collection orifice (ell) to minimize the amount of floating material that will enter the system. 5. The bottom of the basin shall be at least 18-inches below the outflow collection orifice. 6. We recommend that a 12inch wide concrete mowing strip be installed around the rim of the basin for easy maintenance and to minimize the amount of debris getting into the basin.. 7. The City Plumbing lnspector shall inspect installation of the catch basin and outflow line. The sewer tap will require inspection by a Public Works Construction or Maintenance lnspector. Please note that all areas of the site must drain to an approve drainage way. The grade around the building must drain away from the building on all sides. Any sumps created by backfilling around the home must be eliminated, i.e. under the deck. I trust the above information will be sufficient to enable you to proceed with the drainage work. The drainage system must be completed before we can grant final occupancy approval for your new home.
