ELECTRI CAL
The electrical inspection has revealed the following listed defects in the addi-tional wiring installation. State of Oregon Administrative Rules, Electrical
Standards, Section 22-110, states that aIl electrical wiring on properties forrent, sale or lease shall be performed by an Oregon licensed electrical contractor.
(l) Install not less than 100 ampacity service pane'l for each apartment, with
main breakers and adequate sub-breaker spaces to serve all the requiredcircuits. This will eliminate cascading of sub-feeders and overfusing that
wi'l I cause overheati ng of conductors .
(2) Install conduit on exposed cables on outside walls to protect them from the
sun rays, weather and physical damage.
(3) Fixture wire extension cords may not be used as a permanent type vriring dueto possible fire or shock hazard. Install non-meta'llic sheathed cable within
the walls or use metal surface raceway (wire mold) for extension cfrcuits.
(4) Install the N.M. cables, now on the baseboard (mopboard), within the walls orin metallic surface raceway to protect the cable from physical damage.
(5) To prevent overheating of conductors within the walls, install not smaller
than #'10 copper or #8 aluminum to rep'lace water heater wiring.
(6) Protect the_exposed cable to the water heater from physical damage by insta'l-ling flexible steel conduit from the wall, floor or cLtting to the witerheater.
(7) In panelled walls, the space between outlet boxes and the panel (combustible
material ) surface is exposed to sparks or heat from the wii-tng or in itre Oe-vice. Install extension sleeves to cover this space and secuie the deviceto the box (not to be supported by the cover plate). :
(S) l'lorn and burned contacts in switches and receptacles will cause heat orsparkS. Replace defective devices in all areas
(9) Due to hazardous nature of the additional wiring (i.e., wiring added after thebuilding was initial'ly constructed), comection-of non-conformtng wiring inaIl apartments will be required.
II,: eyllding Safety Dt'vision will check on the progress in 30 days from the date ofthis letter. PIease direct all inquiries to thb S[ringfield Buiiding Safety Divisionat 726-3753.
