CONSTBUCNON INSPECTION
RE: 4733 Union Terrace - Roof Damage - W.O. #14509
As you requested, an initial structural inspection of the truss damage caused by a tree
falling during the wind storm of 02107102 on the single level house at the above address was
performed by Mortier Engineering, P.C. on 04129102. A subsequent inspection was made
on 05/07/02 when the roofing had been removed to view the damage to the end
connections.
Approximately 80% of the truss tails have been broken off requiring the tails to be replaced.
A mrnrmum of one truss end connection has been severely damaged due to crushing
requiring connection and top chord replacement, a minimum of one top chord has been
broken requiring replacement, and a minimum of two struts have been released from the
top chord connection requiring connection replacement. The bottom chords appearto be in
satisfaclory condition, but were not fully open to view due to insulation and ceiling nailers.
Contacl the engineer if any damage to the bottom chords is detected by the contractorafrer
removal of insulation and during truss repair, to determine extent of damage and any repair
that may be needed.
