As you requested, a site soils investigations were performed at the above address on January, 25,
2005. At the time of the inspection the site had been excavated and what appears to be a
maximum of 20 inches of crushed rock installed. Based on observations and explorations at the
site all unsuitable fills, organic and other unsuitable material has been removed to a suitable
grade, The native soil is a silty clay loam with a Unified Classification of ML-CL. This soil
has a low potential for expansion (Holtz 1959).
A compaction inspection was also performed at the site where unsuitable material was removed
and crushed rock installed to elevate the site to a suitable grade for construction purposes, The
crushed rock was placed in lifts and compacted with a vibratory plate or vibratory roller- The
compaction of the gravel surface is greater thanglYo of a standard proctor, per ASTM D698.
An allowable soil bearing capacity of 1500 PSF can be used for foundation design,
This report is limited to soil conditions at the building site and slope stability is not within the
scope of this investigation and report.

RE: 723 and 759 S. 48th - Drainage inspection- Job #33-05
As you requested, a site visit rvas performed at the above locations on 03/03/05 to inspect the installation
of the drainline as recommended by this office in the letter dated 02121105. The inspection of the
drainline installation rvas performed prior to the placement of the round rock over the drainline. The
perforated drainline is encased in a silt sock and placed at the base of the footing, as recommended, and
tied to solid line that has a l% slope to the curb. As the drainage has been installed as recommended, the
clean round rock may now be placed over the line, and inspections by the Cify of Springfield may be
performed.
