Dear Jeff,
you ha.d asked me two questions conceming your future obligations to provide wastewater
service to the property that you and other family members own at 847 S. 47- Street- To assist
me with *"*irirg those questions, you provided me with a packet of materials from City fi-les
concerning prior City actions on this matter. Thank you for providing these materials as they
simplified my research on your questions-
The questions thatYou asked were:
1. Does 847 S. 47s Street have an obligation to pay for extending wastewater service to the
property in the future?
Response: As part of the Haidyn Meadows, ln Addition project, City Project No. 3-039,
anb-inch public wast*r,ater main was constructed by your family to provide service to
thts propirty. Therefore, assumtng that all of the property can be served by this mai4
the property has no firther obligation to payfor constructing public wastewater systems
for this property under current City policy-
2. The City allowed the adjoining properly, 873 S. 47tr Streeg to make a direct connection
to the 8-inch main with a private pressure line, thereby preventing you from using the
connection to the main that you provided to your properfy. Who is responsible for the
cost to disconnect and re-plumb the connection from 873 S. 47* ln the event that you or
someone else develops on your property?
Response: The City granted the adjotning property owner a temporory connection to the

temDorary connectionwtll need to be removed and a gravityflow connection madefrom

As an additional infomration item for you, the City has entered into a contract with Mur-ray,
Smith & Associates (MSA) to design the Jasper Road Trunk Sewer project. One of the elements
of their scope of work includes preparing the design for the S. 47ft Steet sewer as well. 'We
have not decided if this portion of the project will be included in ttre construction contract since
it will be subject to a decision by the Cify Council about cost assessments with the benefitted
proper[y owners. We wiil be taking that discussion to the Cify Council in early 2010 after we
have preliminary plans from MSA.
