After the fire, the house was boarded-up and secured from entry. When we contacted the owners at that time they said that they were going to remove the building. Bob Barnhart visited the property on Friday and will again contact the owners. lf permits for repair/demolition are not obtained voluntarily by the owner, we will seek compliance through the 'Notice and Order' process. A question that comes to my mind: Don't we have a procedure to systematically track the disposition of burned structures after their fires to make sure that the properties are secured in some appropriate manner? According to Ms. Patterson, the house has been abandoned for fifteen years and has burned twice. The latest fire damage was limited to external Oamage at the front window (notice the burn on the plywood). There is a process that Fire notifiel Building anytime there is structural or electrical system damage. I believe the basis of this complaint is not the fire damage, but the lack of maintenance of the property.
