City Council enacted an ordinance changing the name of the street in front of your property from Smi*uh Way to North l+3rd Place. This action was taken in an attemp-t, to bring Smith Way into conformance with a general street narning/ad.dressing policy follo',red by the City for a number of years. fn somewhat over-simplified. form, the id.ea is that predominantly north-south stree+.s are consecueti-ve1y numbered., while predominantly east-west streets are ]ettered or narned. in aecord.ance vith the alphabet. Addressing, in turn, progresses sequentially east and vest from Mi1l Street and north and south frorn Main Street. The closer ve are able to stick with this sort of logical plan, the easier it,,rill. be for afl con- cerned to fine their vay about the City. Unfortunately, shortly after the above described Council action, street na.rne signs were incorreetly placed indicating that the street vas to remain Smith Way. When this problem was brought to the attention of the City Council at their meeting of May 27th, the Council ordered. that the signs be changed consonant vith the ordinance as soon as possible.
