At the request of 1'our tenant, the Springfield Building Safetl' Dilision conducted an
inspection of the property located at the above address. Tbe inspection revealed iterns
r.hich do not meet th; minimum City Housing Code requirements and must be corrected.
Thev consist of the following:
Structural
1.AU stairs having four or more risers shall be provided with handrails on at least one
side. Stairwal's more than 30" in height shall also have a guardrail on the open
side. Handrails shau be placed not less than 30" nor more than 34" above the line
of nosings of the treads and shatl be continuous tbe fuU length of the stairs. Ends
shall be returned to the wall or terrninate at a post. Open stair railings shall have
intermediate rails not greater than 6" apart. The handgrip portion of the rail shall
be not more than 2 5,/8" in cross-section or an equivalent smooth gripping surface
rvith no sharp corners. The handrail shall be spaceC not less than 1 1/1" from the
wall.

1 The electrical service conductors Iack sufficient clearance from an openable window
to adequately protect the wire from ph1'sical damage or accidental contact.
Electrical light firtures \f,ere found that were inoperable, damaged or missing and
shall be either repaired or replaced.
\\'hen bedrooms are located on an upper level, a smoke detector shall be installed
on the ceiling directly above the stairu'ay.
