Subject:Modified Occupancy Inspection at 480-A Shelly Street, Springfield,
Oregon.
Current Use: Coffee SuPPIY Service
Dear Ms. Korth:
At your request, the Community Services Division/Building Safety conducted a1 inspection
of ine building at the above address. The purpose of the inspection was to determine the
suitability of the buitding for the current use as indicated.
Based on the inspector,s observation, the existing conditions which are mentioned below do
not meet the minimum Building safety code requirements. corrective measures must be
taken to instalt, repair, replace or modify the following items in order for the building to
conform to applicable safety codes:

1 Installation of all plumbing fixtures shall be completed. The upstairs shower shall
be instaued in an ,ppro*d manner. The laundry drain downstairs is not an
approved installation.
The gas-fired water heater mounted on the wall above the sink downstairs is not an
approved installation. The appliance is unvented, and use of a LPG fuel tank
(apparently connected to the appliance intermittently) is not permitted within
buildings.

The discharge line from the temperature pressure relief valve on the upstairs water
heater shall be extended directly to an approved point of discharge using approved
material of the same size as the valve outlet and shall terminate at a location that
will avoid hazard to persons and property.
ELECTRICAL
The improper use of extension cords was noted. When used in place of permanent
wiring, it is potentially hazardous and can cause electrical shock or fire. Extension
cords shall not be used in place of permanent wiring for connection to electrical
appliances, equipment or lighting.
Building permits must be obtained for the above items which involve repairs or
modifications to the structural, electrical, plumbing or mechanical systems of the building
and for any additions or revisions you wish to make to the building.
Please note that installation or repair of electrical systems on property which is intended
for lease, sale or rent must be done by an electrical contractor who is licensed by the State
of Oregon.
A licensed plumbing contractor is required for all new work and alterations to existing
plumbing systems in structures which are for sale, lease or rent.
