RE: Electrical Safety Inspection at 465 North 25th Street, Springfield, Oregon
Dear Ms. Fairchild:
At the request of l,lendy l'leller, an electrical safety inspect'ion was conducted at the
above address on l4arch 3, 1983. At that time, substandard and hazardous conditions
were found to exist 'in violation of the lJniform Housinq Code and,the 0regon Electri-
cal Safety Code as adopted by the City of Springfield,0regon.
The following items must be repaired or replaced in conformance with applicable
Codes:
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
The electrical system has been improoerly altered and maintained and constitutes
hazardous wiring as described in Section 1001 (e) of the Uniform Hous'ing Code
(U.H.C.) as adopted by the City of Springfie'ld. Although the existing electrical
systern may have met the standards of the Code that was in effect at the time ofits 'installation, alterations, and/or improper maintenance require corrections to
be made in accordance with both the Uniform Housing Code as adopted by the City
of Springfield and the current 0regon State Electrical Specialty Code (E.S.C.).
Oregon Electrical Safety Law Section 22-110 (b) states that electrical work per-
formed on proDerty that is for rent, sale or lease, sha'll be done by an electri-
cal contractor.
Replace service panels. U.H.C. 1001 (e). Service panels inadequate for cir-
cuits and loads served and shows signs of overloading. National Elrectrical
Code (N.E.C.) 230-41
Repair wiring under house and in attic. U.H.C. 1001 (e). Wiring under
water 8 to 10 inches under house. An inspection showed unsafe condition,i.e., when al1 1amps, clocks, applicances were off or pulled from recep-
tacles the meter still runs indicating Ieakage somewhere in the system.
N0TE: l^lhen all breakers are turned off meter stops.
Rewire water heater properly. U.H.C. 1001 (e). Junction boxes required at

1. Roof covering is to be repaired where water leakage is occurring. U.H.C. 1001(h). N0TE: Roof appears to be in reasonable condition. Reolaiement of roof
should not be necessary.

1. Drain be provided for underfloor area.
a) Install drain tile from underfloor area to face of curb at street havinga minimum fall of l./8" per foot.
b) Install sump pump if favorable grade does not exist to street.
2. Repair broken or damaged roof drainage pipe[s).
3. Provide additional ventilation for underfloor area.
1. Provide additional ventilation for attic area. NOTE:
dry out both areas.
Extra vents will help
All necessary permits shall be obtained before work starts and all work shall be
accomp'lished according to appficable Codes and inspected before a Certificate of
Compl iance wi I I be i ssued.
