Dear Mr. Schafer and Mr. McCarthy,
I have recently received complaints concerning t.he condit'ion of the
western portions of Tax Lots 2?200 and 22300, County Assessor's Map
# t7-03-36-1.4, adiacent to l,lorth 2Bth and "C" Streets, Springfield,
0regon. Our records jndjcate that you are the current owners of these
lots.
I 'inspected these lots on Septernber 19, 1977 and found pi 1es of so j I
and debriS, used metal, and vehicles present. The zon'ing of th'is area
is spl it between M-3 (heavy industrial ) and R-1 (single fanti.ly res'ident-
ial ). Because of the ex jsting proxim'ity of res jdent'ial and industrial
zones in this area, €QUiprnent and refuse storage can be a controversialjssue. In additjon, the City, particularly during a drought year, is
concerned about the possible attraction storage areas may have for rats!
I would like to offer several suggestions to you or wltontever is using
your l ots that may hei p improve 'its appearance, aS wel I as el 'irni nate
any potenti a1 1y hazardous cond i ti ons :
i. The d'irt and debris piles should be spread evenly over the lot
in order not to provide harborage for rats. (Sonle of the sur-
rounding res'idents have reported rat sightings to us')
2. Perhaps the used metal and equipnrent could be retnoved or kept
in a confined area.
3. The vehicles would appear less attractive to neighborhood
children, etc.., if kept 'in a fenced area.
(
I urge your prorrrpt attention to th
will be greatly apprec'iated by the
of the North 28th Street area.
nratter. Corrrpl i ance on your Lrartty of Springfield and the resjdents
