Jones : At your request, the Building Division of the City of Springfield made a hous- ing inspection on May 30, 1.979, at 740 North 2Lst Street, Springfield, Oregon. The following items must be repaired or replaced to conform with the Uniform Housing Code as adopted by the City of Springfield: 1. A handrail must be installed for the stairs. A handrail must be provided on the open side of the stairs. The height shal1 be 30 to 34 inches above the tread nosing. 2 3 A11 windows must open freely. Install a pressure relief valve on the water heater, piped down and to the outside, install a 90o el1 on the end of the pipe in , do*r*rrd position. 4 Replace all three prong receptacles with two prong receptacles on all two wire branch circuits. Secure all loose switch and receptacle junction boxes A11 electrical wire splices must be in approved junction boxes with approved covels. 7. Install cable clamps on wire entering junction boxes and secure all wiring in an approved manner. Permits must be obtained before work starts and all work sha11 be accomplished in accordance with applicable codes. Property for rent, lease or sale is required to be wired by a licensed electrical contractor. A11 work must be inspected and ap- proved before a Certificate of Compliance will be issued. Jones 740 N. 21st Street Springfield, Oregon 97477 SUBJECT: 740 N. 21st Street, occupancy i nspect i on Dear Ms. Jones: An inspect'ion was made by the Sprignfield Building Departnrent on July 11, 1977at 740 N. 21st Street pursuant to a fire at that locatjon on or about July 7,1977. This inspection was confined to the underfloor area directly below the bathtub. This was the only area that showed evidence of fire damage. The following items were found in need of repair of replacement to conform with the applicable codes adopted by the City of Springfield: The two floor jojst that were burnt under the bath tub shall be replaced. The subflooring under the tub shall be replaced. The rim joist and mudsill under the tub shall be replaced. A door shall be jnstalled on the crawl space access hole. The w'iring to the baseboard heater that runs under the tub area shall be repa i red . It appears that the tub has been damaged and should be replaced. All applicable permits shall be obtained before work starts and all work shall be inspected before a Certificate of Compliance will be jssued.
