At the request of the tenant, James J. Steele, the Springfield Bu'ilding Safety
Divjsion conducted a Courtesy Inspection at the above referenced address.
The fol'lowing items do not meet the minimum standards of the Springfield Housing
Code:
STRUCTURAL AND LIFE SAFETY
The bedroom windows do not provide egress to the outside of the buiiding.
Openable w'indows must be installed to provide an emergency exit in case offire or other disaster. Wood casements are painted and stuck in the closed
position or undue moisture has accumulated and wood expanded causing the
windows to stick closed.
2. Standing water under house from a broken water pipe is causing a great amount
of vapor to condensate ins'ide the house causing wet windows, doors and walls.
Provide an underfloor drain and pipe to the curb 'in the street. The rain drain
downspouts are now draining onto the ground next to the house foundation and
adding to standing water under the house. A system of dra'in piping should be
installed to convey this rain water to the curb and storm sewer.
Your cooperation in eliminating these potentia'lly hazardous items in an expedient
manner will be appreciated. All necessary permits for repairs shall be obta'ined
from this office and required inspections conducted.
