Dear Mr. Larson:
As a result of tenant complaints and a request from the Springfield Fire
Marshal's office, the structure located at L47 and L471< North 17th Street,
Springfield, Oregon was inspected on January 23,1980 by the City of
Springfield Building Division.
The following items were found to be in violation of the Uniform Housing
Code as adopted by the City of Springfield:
1. The pressure relief valve drain on both water heaters, has been reduced
in size. The pipe nust be fulI size and piped to the outside of the
house in a visible .location.
2. The plumbing fixtures are leaking and loose.
3. P.V.C. water service is freezing due to exPosure to the weather'
4. The hot water pipes are cross connected at rthe water heaters.
5. There is a lack of adequate ventilation in the bathrooms.
6. The back door exit is inadequate and dangerous. Exit stairway nust be
constructed with a maximum rise of eight inches and a nine inch minimum
run.
7, There is evidence of infestation by insects and rodents.
8. There is deterioration of flooring and structural supports in bathroom
area.
9. There is excessive water damage and deterioration of perimeter exterior
wal1s, wal1 coverings and waIl supports.
10. IVaterproofing of the roof covering in unit 147 ts ineffective'
11. Windows do not open freely to provide proper ventilation and a proper
means of egress.

either of the back doors.
Electrician sha11 make arrangments with the electric Power conpany to raise
the service drop to three feet above the house roof gutter.

19. Replace defective dryer and range outlets, and provide metal raceway pro-
tection on cables through floors.
