Dear Mr. Hamrick,
The Springfield Historical Conmission appreciates the opportunity to review
and comnent on the appl ications for special assessment for historic
properties located within Springfield. The three properties you submittedfor our review and comrent are located at 706 N. sth Street, 745 N. 5th
Street and 734 'D' Street. These properties are located within the
l{ashburne Historic Landmark District. All three properties are classifiedas "primary significant contributing" on the National Register of Historic
Pl aces.
The Springfield Historical Conrnission reviewed the three applications and
recorrnends granting approval of the special assessment in each case. The
Historical Commission and City Council support the granting of special
assessments for historic properties as a way to provide an incentive to home
owners tn repairing and maintaining their property.
