Dear Mr. Caldwell: At the request of the Springfield Fire and Life Safety Department, theBuilding Safety Division recently conducted an inspection of the fire damage at the above address. The inspection revealed damage which rnust becorrected in order for the building to conply with applicable CityBuilding Safety Codes. The folloning items must be repaired or replaced: Electrical I. Improper use of extension cords was noted, which when used in place of permanent wiring is potentially hazardous and can cause electrical shock or fire. Extensions cords shall not be run through walIs, ceilings, floors, doors, windows, or similar openings. 2. Inproper splicing of electrical wiring was observed. The splices of electrical wiring must be contained in an approved junction box, with cover to prevent possible electric shock or fire from exposed electrical wiring or short-circuit conditions. 3. All burned and heat danaged wiring, tight fixtures and electrical devicesshall be replaced. 4. AII wiring shall be rrrn inside the framed members of the str-ucture or adequately protected fron danage. Building Permits must be obtained for the above iteus which involverepairs or uodification to the structural, electrical, plr:mbing or mechanical systens of the building and for any additions or revisions youwish to nake to the building.
