Collectors shall be tested in conformance witfr,qSHnnf 93-1986, and SRCC 100-81. The coilectors also shail be cerrified by the SRCC and the Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC). GENERAL The dimensions oF the collector shall be inches in length, inches in width and 3 l/4 inches in depth. The coilector casing shall be an anodized aluminum exlrusion lalloy 6063 T5), minimum thick- ness .060 inch, wirh an architectural dark bronze finish. The casing shall have notched framewalls for ease of plate removal and reinstallation. Sheet metalscrewed fasteners shailbe stainless steel {18-8 #10). The backheet shallbe painted textured aluminum not less than .014 inch thickness. A I inch vent plug shail be installed in each of the four corners of the backsheet to minimize condensation. GIAZING The coliector glazing shall be one sheet of low iron tempered glass, with a minimum of i/8 inch rhickness 15/32 inch on EP/EC 40), and a mini- mum transmissivityof 9l percenr {89 on EPIEC 40). The glazing shaltbe thermally isolated from the casing by a continuous EpDM gasker. There shall be a continuous secondary srlicone seal between the glass and cas- ing capstrip ro minimize moisture from enterjng the casing. INSUIATION Ihe insulation shall be foil-faced polyisoryanurate foam shearhrng board of a minrmum I inch thickness, siliconed in piace to the aluminum backsheet, covered by low-binder fiberglass of a minimum I inch thickness, providinq thermal isolation of the foam from the absorber plate. Total thermal resis- tance shall be a minimum of R- l 2. The sides and ends of the collector shall be insulated with a minimum of I inch foil-faced polyisocyanurate foam sheathing board. ABSORBER PTATE AND PIPING The absorber shall consist of a roll-formed copper piate of no less than .008 inch thickness. Risers shall be a minimum of 1/2 inch O.D. Type M copper tubing on no more than 4 I /2 inch centers continuously soldered to the piate utilizing a non<orrosive soider paste with a meiting point of 460"E The risers shall be brazed to I l/8 inch O. D. Iype M copper manifotds uti- lizing a copper phosphorous brazrng alloy with no less than l5 percent sit ver contenl and conforming to the American Welding SocietyS BCup-S clas- sification. EPDM grommets shall isolare rhe manifold from the aluminum casing. The absorber plate shail be designed for 160 psig maxirnum oper- ating pressure. ABSORBER COATING AND PERFORMANCE CURVE A) Black Chrome (EC Serieg: The absorber coating shall be black chrome on nickel with a minimum absorptrvrty of 95 percent and a maximum emissiv- ily of 12 percent. The instantaneous efricienry of the collector shall be a minimum Y-intercept of 0714 and a siope of no less than ll7ll (BTU/ff-n4/F B) Moderately Selective Black Paint {EP Serres}; The absorber coaring shall be a moderately{elective black paint with a minimum absorptrvlty of 94 per- cent and a maximum emissivlty of 56 percent.
