SUBJECT: Housing Inspection/Notice To Correct
Electrical Safety Hazards
Dear Mr. Drake:
At the request of the occupant, Mr.I^lalter Thorn, a housing inspection was
conducted by the Springfield Building Division at the property located at
1976 North 2nd Street, Springfield, 0regon. The inspection was conducted
on September 13, t979. Our records indicate that you are the owner of said
property.
As a result of our inspection, numerous health and safety hazards were ob-
served. Although a complete report of our findings is as yet incomp'lete,
the electrical safety hazards observed are serious enough in themselves to
warrant immediate action.
Therefore, please be advised that on September 13, L979 the electrical power
to the subject building has been ordered disconnected pend'ing the correction
or elimination of said hazards. This action was taken only after numerous
attempts to contact you by telephone regarding the hazards involved.
The following, then, is a list of electrical safety hazards-that must be
corrected before permanent electrical power can be re-established:

Electrical wiring has been improperly spf iced; that 'is, splices occur
outside of approved boxes.5. An inadehuate number of branch circuits have been provided to properly
serve' lights, recepticles, app'liances, and equipment.
An electircal permit must be obtained before work begins and all work must be
accomplished in accordance with the National Electrical Codeo 1978 edition,
as. adopted by the State of 0regon. All work must be inspected and approved.

health and safety hazards in the near future. In the meantime, please direct
all inquiries to the Springfield Building Divison at 726-3753.
