Each permil issued by the building official, under the provisions of the-auitding Code (Oregon State Mechanical Specialty Code) shall expire by Iimitation and become null and void if the work authorized by such permit is not commenced within 1-80 days from the date of such permit, or if the work authorized by such permit is suspended or abandoned at any time after the work is commenced for a period of L80 days. No permit shall be extended more than once. [Sec. 303 (d) OSMC] Section 305(d) OSMC states: 'rIt shaII be the duty of lhe person doing the work authorized by a perrnit to notify the building official that such work is ready for inspection.rt In addition, Section 303(c) OSMC, says: I'The issuance of a permit or approval of plans, specifications and computations shall not be construed to be a permit for, or an approval of, any violation of any of the provisions of this code or of other ordinance of the jurisdiction. rl Recently, dD agreement was made between Lane County and the cities of Eugene and Springfield resulting in the creation of an 'Urbanrrinsition Aiea, where the respective city codes apply as well as the State of Oregon Building Code. Since the cities and Lane County utilize the same State of Oregon Uechanical Specialty Code, the section references Iisted above apply in al1 jurisdictions- If your address is within a city Urban Transition Area or within the city limitsr you must make application for any anticipated permit activity for I wood burning appli-ance (or other activity) with your city'building department' .
