PI-AN CHECKING CONSTRUCTION INSPECTION October 24,2000 John Baumann 603 Woodcrest Drive Springfield, OR97477 RE: 784 Woodcrest Drive - Site/Soils/Compaction lnvestigation - W.O. # 13128 As you requested, a site/soils investigation was performed at the above noted address on October 10, 2000. Design for the site is as follows: Allfill, vegetation, and unbuildable material has been removed to native grade. The native soil is a moderately stiff clay with a Unified Soils Classification of CH and a plasticity index of greater than 20. This soil is considered a moderate to expansive clay (after Holtz 1 959). The gravel pad forthe building site should be a minimum of 12" of compacted crushed rock placed with a tracked dozer or excavator, and compacted with a vibratory plate or roller. l/ortier Engineering, P.C. supervised the profiling of the soils for removal of water. On October 24,2000 a compaction inspection was performed after fill placement. The compacted surface of the 3/4" minus crushed rock is adequate for a foundation bearing capacity of 1500 psf, which is adequate to support the proposed conventionalwood frame residence. The compaction of the gravelsurface is greaterthan 95% of a standard proctor per ASTM D69B-91. See attached data sheet(s). I hope you find this report adequate for your purposes at this time.
