Subject : Occupancy Inspection at 1075 Shelley Street, Springfield, Oregon.
Proposed Use: Cabinet Manufacturing
Dear McKay Investnents,
At your request, the Community Services Division/Building Safety conducted an
inspection of the building at the above address. The purpose of the inspection was to
determine the suitability of the building for the proposed use as indicated.
Based on the proposed occupancy, the existing conditions which are mentioned below do
not meet the minimum Building Safety Code requirements. Corrective measures must be
taken prior to occupancy to install, repair, replace or modiff the following items in order
for the building to conform to applicable safety codes:
l. Exits shall be provided as specified in Chapter 33 of the State of Oregon Structtral
Specialty Code.
2. Access to and egress from buildings required to be accessible shall be provided as
specified in chapter 3l of the State of oregon Structural Specialty code.
3. When required by other provisions of this code, automatic fire-extinguishing systems
and standard pipes shall be designed and installed as specified in Chapter 38 oith" St t"
of Oregon Structural Specialty Code.
4. Equipment or machinery which generates or emits combustible or explosive dust or
fibers shall be provided with an adequate dust-collecting and exhaust.yrt"- installed in
conformance with the Mechanical Code.
5. Office area related to Group H, Division 2 Occupancies shall be required to be of two-
hour fire resistive construction.
6. A two-hour fire-resistive occupancy separation shall not of less than two-hour fire-
resistive construction. This is required on the South wall of the building.

7 . Every portion of a Group H Occupancy building having a floor area of 200 square feet
or more shall be served by at least two exits. Within Group #1,2 and 3 Occupancies, all
portions of any room shall be within 75 feet of an exit door. Exit doors from a room
classified as Group H, Division 1,2, arrd 3 Occupancies shall not be provided with a latch
or lock unless it is panic hardware.
8. Plans to be submiued showing proposed use of building.
9.Any required permits shall be obtained prior to beginning any repair or alteration to the
building.
10. Administrative and clerical offrces and similar rooms related to Group H, Division 2
will require a one-hour fire-resistive occupancy separation, which will be of not less than
one hour fire resistive construction. All openings in such separation shall be protected by
a fire assembly having a one-hour fre-protection rating.
