ISSUE STATEMENT: The Development and Public Works Department seeks council approval to purchase nine Operations fleet vehicles and two dump trucks. ATTACHMENTS: None DISCUSSION/ FINANCIAL IMPACT: In fiscal year 2019, the Development and Public Works Operations budgeted to replace several fleet vehicles. These purchases were delayed until fiscal year 2020 due to Ford not accepting orders for 2019 vehicles during the latter part of our FY19. Supplemental Budget 1 for FY20 brought forward the money budgeted for those vehicles. Operations budgeted for additional vehicle replacements in FY20. There are nine pick-up trucks and two dump trucks budgeted to be replaced this year. Replacement schedule for pick-ups are on a 10 year rotation and the average age of the pick-ups on the list of replacements is 16 years old. Both dump trucks are 12 years old. Maintenance costs of these vehicles have increased, replacement parts are not readily available and downtime of the vehicles has increased. These vehicles have served the City well but have come to the end of their useful life and need replaced. Additionally, these replacement pick-ups are better suited for general construction activities and will substantially improve ice and snow response accessibility and safety as five of these pick-ups are fitted with snow plow package - all nine are 4- wheel drive. Development and Public Works Community Development budgeted to replace two Building and Code Enforcement vehicles in FY20. The vehicles needing replaced are 19 and 16 years of age. They have served the City well but are continuing to be more unreliable and need to be replaced. Staff requests Council give the City Manager Pro Tem the authority to negotiate and sign contracts to Landmark Ford Lincoln in the amount not to exceed $380,553.60, to JMR Group LLC dba McCoy Freightliner in the amount of $259,122 and Suburban Chevrolet in the amount of $52,780.60. Sufficient funds are budgeted in FY20 to cover these purchases.
