The City of Springfield welcomes your new business. I would like to take a
moment of youn time .to 'inf orm you of some of the requi rements the C'ity of
Springfield has with regard to bui lding and zoning.
1 Should you dec'ide to insta'll a sign(s) advertising your business, the City of
Spri ngfi el d requi res you obtai n penmits . Permit fees are based upon thevalue of the sign(s) you propose to install. The City also has a Sign Code
whtch regulates the number and size of signs you can have.
Please contact Sally Johnson for furtherinformat'ion regarding signs.
The Bui lding Safety D'ivision can perform an 0ccupancy Inspection of yourbuilding. fhis inspection is not required, however, is encouraged as theinspectors wi ll insune your structural, plumbing, electrical and mechanical
systems meet the minimum requirements for your pnoposed use. There js a
$35.00 inspection fee.
Should you decide to make any structural, plumbing, electrical or mechanicalalterations or addit'ions to the bui 1ding, Jou shal l be requ'ired to:
a. Apply for bui lOing related permits.
b. Apply for site plan review prior to submitting building permits if you
decide to expand your building by 500 square feet or more.
