Broadway Eugene, 0R 97401 Re: Request for L'iquor L'icense by Mi ss'ion Restaurant, l2l6 Mohawk Blvd., Springfield, 0R Commissioners: At the request of Frank Krebs, the City of Springfield Building Safety D'ivision conducted an 'inspection on July 17, .l984 of the former Gingerbread House Restaurant and an adjacent vacant lease space formerly occupied as a Phone Center. Thejntent of this'inspection was to determine the current condition and suitabilityof this vacant lease space for use as a Mission Restaurant and Lounge. Wh'ile conducting the inspection, Structural Inspector Lorne Pleger and Plumbing/ Mechanical Inspector Denny Bordeaux were approached by a lease tenant, Dan Lyons. Mr. Lyons'lease space takes access from a central corridor which also serves other lease tenants as well as the proposed Lounge space for the Mjssjon Rest- aurant. Mr. Lyons'inquired about our presence in the building and we explained the purpose of our vis'it. After learning that a Lounge was proposed to have one access from the same corridor as his lease space, Mr. Lyons expressed concernfor the security of his computer equipment and asked if we could prohib'it the Lounge patrons from access to the central corridor. I explained that the corridor provided a requ'ired second exit for several of the tenants and was requiredto be accessible by those tenants any time their lease spaces were being occupied.I further explained that required toilet facil'ities were also provided for thepublic and were accessed via the same corridor. I then suggested that Mr. Lyons' concerns for security of his business should be voiced to Mr. Skip F1eek, the bujldjng owner. It has been brought to my attent'ion that Mr. Lyons is now protesting the requestfor a Liquor License by Mr. Krebs. This protest seems quite unwarrantable since the proposed Mjssion Restaurant/Lounge is prov'ided wjth two other entrances and w'ith its own toilet facil'itjes and use of the central corridor w'ill probably be l'imited to the occasional customer who may park in the rear of the building and does not walk around the building to the front entrance. 225 North 5th Street a Springfield, Oregon 97 477 a 503/726-3753 0regon Liquor Control Commission October l, .1984 Page 2 Questions regarding the contents of this letter may be directed to Lorne Pleger at 726-3669 or Denny Bordeaux at 726-3665.
