lrlith the assistancg 9! the Springfield Building Division, a representative from theSpringfield Water Pollution Control PIant will be conducting gi^ease trap inspectionsthroughou! tle City of Springfield. Section 711 of the Oregon State plimbinb Specia'l-ty code (PSC) states: "...ar-r lpproved type grease intercepior complyi^g,iif, th"provisions of this section shall be instal'led in the waste'line leiding-from sink,drains, and other fixtures, or equipment in the following establishmenisr iestaurants,cafes, 'lunch counter, cafeterias, bars, c'lubs; hotel , hoipital , sanitarium, factory,or school kitchen, or other establishments where grease may be introduced into the-
-drainage or sewage system in quantities that can effect liire stoppage or hinder sewage-treatment or private sewage disposal.,."
Your establishment-has been inspected and it was found that in order to comply withthe_above, you will need to insta'l'l a grease interceptor. No grease intercbpiorshall be installed which has an approved rate of f'low of Iess ihan 20 qallons per
minute and grease retention capacity of 40 pounds. SectionTLl. (d) - (pSC) states:'.-.Each p'lumbing fixture or piece of equipment connected to a grease deviie instal-le-d in a readily accessible and vis'ible'located in the tail piece or drain outletof each such fixture. Flow control devices shall be so designed that the total flowthrough such device or devices shal I at no time be greater than the rate capacityoI !!. interceptor. Since the build-up of grease in the'lines and lift station wet wells causes a great
amount of maintenance result'ing in unwarranted costs to the pub'lic, a city-wideprogram to determine the adequacy and condition of these installations is-being
conducted by a Springfie'ld Water Pol I ution Contro'l P'lant Representative.
4.l1 necessary permits shall be obtained before work begins and al'l inspectionsfor such work shall be required by calling the City of Springfield inspectionline at 726-3769.
