Lane County Environmental Health 125 East 8th Avenue Eugene, Oregon 974OL Dear Gerry, I'm writing with regard to a copy of a February 20, 1980 letter sent to me from your office concertir.g. maintenance problem at the Meadow Park Manor Apartments' 844 Mi1l Street, springfield, oregon (copy attached). This letter and several others I have received f.L* yoor office recently have raised the question relative to Lane county Environmental Health's procedure for complaint inspections in springfield' Do you have a procedure relative to specific kinds of complaints you refer to me as op- posed to complaints you investigatl airectly from your office? AIso on occasion I have referred certain cases to you, or at least asked for your assistance in the form of reports or letters, with no response' Please advise' When both potential sanitation and Housing Code violations are involved as in the case of Meadow park Manor, it would be beneficial to involve the springfield Building Di- vision as we1l as a representative from your office. For example, in the case of the plumbing violations at Meadow Park ltanor, a springfield Plumbing inspector should also look at the problem relative to the springfield i{ousing code and its abatement pro- cedure. For the sake of consistency ind uniformity, I would like to suggest that joint inspections be conducted whenlver desirable or necessary' There is little that is more confusing and/or frustrating to tlre public than trying to deal with two govern- mental agencies, each with somewhat different ru]es, regulations' policies' etc' I think we can eliminate a good deal of the confusion and frustration by working together' I look forward to hearing from you regarding these matters at your earliest convenience' Sincerely,./\Jr4" Sa11y J Environmental InsPector Ronald B.
